Clues - Langley, BCPleasantdale Troll LetterboxLocation: Nicomekl River Park, 5130-203 St. Langley. Start at parking lot. Park at 5130-203 St. in Langley and look for the trailhead near the information sign. At the first intersection near the bridge, keep heading straight (south). At the next intersection, head south-east into the trees. After crossing a bridge, head south-west to cross a second bridge. Now travel north-east and follow the gravel trail through the cedar groves along Pleasantdale Creek until you reach a road. Cross the road and continue the trail on the other side. After a fair walk, look for a set of overgrown stairs to your left. Just past the stairs, you will find a small path on the right that heads west. Follow the path for about 30 paces into a little clearing. Cross the small fallen log bridge over the water and go to the base of the old wooden stairs. Near the bottom step to your right is a small log. Check there. Don't go up the stairs as there's big trolls up there (actually it's just private property but the kids don't need to know that). Return home the way you came. The parking lot is about 1km north of your current location. Christian's Journey LetterboxLocation: Nicomekl River Park, 5130-203 St. Langley. Start at parking lot. Long ago in the Nicomekl River Park a young man named Christian began his journey through life. At first he followed the wide path, living and acting like everyone around him but as he grew in wisdom, he began to face decisions. Unsure of which way to go, he sat down and thought long and hard about his future. As soon as he sat down, he realized his answer was right in front of him all the time. So he continued on, overcoming this bridge in life. Then it happened. He came to another, much harder decision to face. Continuing on, he felt the tremendous pressure from others above him that seemed to be passing his life at speeds much greater than he. But he managed to continue on with his own goals and as new decisions came up, he chose the right paths over the ones that would inevitably lead to his destruction. He continued on through life's twists and turns with a few ups and downs but longed for more in life. Something was still missing. One day, while having lunch, he thought long and hard how to cross this bridge in life. Jesus came to mind. Halfway over this bridge of decision, his lifelong questions became clear. Through tear stained eyes, he saw a vision. There to the west in a small clearing stood two trees. One was the tree of knowledge, and the other was the tree of life. Christian chose the right tree this time, as he remembered the Bible passage, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" - John 3:16 niv. |
